5 Steps to Help You Take God With You When You Leave the Table

The morning is quiet and the coffee is hot. I sit in my favorite chair with my worn leather Bible on the table in front of me, pen poised to record the Spirit’s work in my journal. The aroma of the presence of God is so sweet, His voice so clear.

Then life happens.

The kids all wake up on the wrong side of the bed. My husband rushes out the door in a huff. The baby cries all morning. The dishes in the sink from the night before mock me with their crusted sauces. I step on a Cheerio, trip over a pile of laundry, and hit my head on a cabinet someone left open.

It’s gone. The praises have turned to filtered Christian-cuss. The sweet aroma is replaced by an unpleasant odor coming from the kitchen. The voice of God is drowned out by negative self-talk. I am a failure. (Read more . . .)

  2. This was beautiful, Kelly! I can’t tell you how many times i’ve rushed to get up from the table to start the day before pausing to pray. And i loved what you said about a woman in love with her man & thinking about Him all day long! Beautifully written & inspirational!
