Five Open Tabs

Friday Five

For today’s #FridayFive, we are sharing open tabs. Can I be real in this space? I thought about being super-spiritual and tracking down 5 profound blog posts for you to read. It would help build my case for being awesome. Instead of being awesome, I decided to be real.

Facebook and Twitter are a given. I considered an essay on the positive and negative side of social media. It has been done and I don’t really have anything new to add to the conversation. I am going with 5 favorite websites–all sites I visited frequently this week. (Shameless plug: click these links and follow me on Facebook and Twitter.)

She Reads Truth

She Reads Truth

I visit this site every morning. I would love for you to join us. We are currently in the book of Ephesians. These studies are scripture-focused with insightful devotions. The thing I love about SRT is the community. Tucked away under each day’s reading are comments from sisters around the world. It is church–one body, joined together for the training and edification of the saints.

I have been a little iffy about the IF world. It seemed overwhelming to me. However, when IF:Equip announced their newest study, Imperfect Women of the Bible, I jumped right in. I love reading about women of the Bible! The spoken word (below) on the first day hooked me. This study is scripture-driven, slow, and deep. Take a listen, then head over to IF to subscribe!

The Glorious Table

The Glorious Table

I am so very excited about this brand new site! I am one of the contributing writers for this encouraging spot on the world wide web. There are some amazing women writing for TGT. Please stop by and look around. Sign up for email updates to get encouraging posts in your inbox. Then pop over to Facebook and like The Glorious Table so you will be sure to keep up with new posts in your news feed.

I use Canva most every day. It is a great site to build images for blogs, social media, business, parties–the list is endless. If I can use it, anyone can! Crystal Stine has a great resource for graphic newbies. Her book, Creative Basics: 30 Days to Awesome Social Media Art, takes the reader step-by-step through the process of creating graphics.

Since I am being real, honest, and painfully transparent, this .com right here stays up on the old ’08 Dell all the time. I sit here and create in the wee hours of the morning. I drop by throughout the day to pull up things to share with you on social media. Most nights, I visit again to look at comments and analytics. I’d like to think I write for the craft, the joy, the ministry. All of that is true. But, bloggers also want to know that someone is on the other side, reading, feeling, relating. I want to be all “eh, whatevs” about it but, this space matters to me. So, I pour into it and pray it does something for someone somewhere.

#FridayFive Link Up

Now it is your turn to share your open links! What stays open on your computer, laptop, tablet, or phone? Tell me about your favorite websites in the comments below. Or, better yet, write about it and link up! It’s a great way to hurdle through writer’s block and get to know a few other writers.

  1. I purposely didn’t read yours before I wrote mine because I didn’t want to copy – and I knew I’d want to! I love your open tab choices!! Even without looking, I still chose one of the same ones you did. Great minds… This was a fun one! Thanks!!

  2. I’ve never heard of Canva!! Thanks for the info 🙂

    • Beth, I am so glad to share! I almost left this one off. Let me know if you need any help with it. Andrea Stunz does a lot with Canva, too. She would be a great resource.

  3. This was a great post! I learned about some wonderful new sites (to me!) and enjoyed trying out Canva. Thanks for all the information.
