The end of the year is a time for reflection and review. I think we can all agree, 2016 wasn’t all that great. A review of the top news stories reveals all bad news, led by the election. Selective amnesia, anyone?
With all the bad, 2016 had its high moments. The world celebrated together in Rio. Dory found her parents. Alabama won the National Championship. And who can forget Chewbacca Mom?
Things around here weren’t all that bad either. We survived our first year of middle school, I potty trained my youngest, and no one got a cavity. I shared words in a few places, read a lot of books, and connected with you here. Thank you so much for stopping by to read what I share. Your presence means so much to me!
If you’d like to hit the highlights from the past year, these are the most popular posts of 2016.
This post grew from Kristin Welch’s Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World. Parents fight entitlement every single day. It takes intentional parenting to inspire gratitude in our kids’ hearts.
Technically, this post published in 2015, but it received all the traffic in 2016. I am a huge fan of goal setting, and this post is a round-up of my favorite resources. These are still my favorite things to start a new year.
I asked the wise women in my life their secret to staying in love. Over 130 years of marriage are represented in this advice. Grab a cup of coffee and listen as they whisper the secret to love that lasts. (Find part two here.)
I often “work out my salvation” in writing, meaning I process the hard things through my pen (or in this case, my keyboard). That is the case with this post about monitoring the things that come out of my mouth.
Some of my personal favorites:
The Carol of the Traveling Sounds (featured on The Glorious Table)
It’s Time to Break Up with Your Imaginary Boyfriend (featured on Sheila Wray Gregoire’s To Love, Honor, and Vacuum)
Breakthrough Answers from an Astonishing Answered Prayer (This story still amazes me!)
Despite all the bad news, it’s been a great year! I love sharing bits of my life and learning moments with you. I also love hearing from you.
What resonated with you this year?
What do you want to talk about in the coming months?
